Suggested Coalition Benchmarks and Indicators
Benchmark: Coalition is adequately configured to achieve advocacy goals.
Indicators include the following:
a) a coalition member's track record on advocacy issue;
b) the organization's advocacy base;
c) the group's access to stakeholders and decision makers;
d) its ability to support advocacy goal and contribute to theory of change;
e) the coalition member's demonstrated commitment to coalition goals.
Benchmark: Coalition is healthy; that is it is working efficiently and in a coordinated
manner.
Indicators include the following:
a) Member organizations receive adequate and timely information about
plans, progress and results;
b) those organizations actively participate at coalition meetings;
c) the different organizations commit required resources to the campaign;
d) the organizations report satisfactorily about their involvement in the coalition and
about their shared sense of common goals, efforts and accomplishments.
Benchmark: Coalition is publicly recognized as the authority on an advocacy issue.
Indicators: Coalition and its members quoted in media; critical decision makers
aware of coalition and its goals.
